These are collectible unique steel impression die negatives, originally for use in the production of press molded glass buttons, beads, jewelry or cabochons. The negative was intricately hand-engraved and was used to create the actual mold in a softer metal that would then be set in long metal pliers and used to hand press fancy glass buttons, beads or cabochons.
