A wonderful Art Deco Czech Bohemian crystal glass dessert bowl set. This is an extremely rare set by one of the foremost designers of early 20th Century glass. With one large fruit bowl and six smaller bowls, each with elaborate intaglio molded rose flowers around the edge and intaglio cherub angels on the base. Unusually, this is one of the few sets that was hand colored, most being left as clear glass.
With the open-winged butterfly mark used by Hoffmann on the large bowl. As seen in the 1927 catalogue.
Heinrich Hoffmann (1875 - 1939 ) was prominent among glass makers at the luxury level of vanity glass production. He and colleague Henry Günther Schlevogt (1904 - 1984) manufactured from their own designs, and those of famed contemporary artists
This is in excellent antique condition and one small bowl only has a tiny fleabite. This is from a private collection. A stunning piece of Art Deco collectible glass.

Adolf Beckert graduated from the glass school in Novy Bor, before attending the Munich studio of Wilhelm von Debschitz (1907) and the school of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (from 1907).
From 1909 he was in house designer at the J. Loetz glassworks in Klastersky Mlyn. He left Loetz in 1911 and became headmaster of the glass school in Kamenicky Senov (1918-1926) and at the ceramics school in Teplice (1926-1929). He created retrospective designs mainly for vanity and table glass which were introduced into the market in 1926 by the Hoffmann company of Jablonec.
